Brief thoughts

Kayleigh and I put together a mind map of brief ideas we thought of for our film plot and trailer taking inspiration from our current research to help us when it comes to deciding on which conventions we will follow and a final idea. We considered camera shots, locations and even potential actors:

Manchester Hulme hippodrome
Barnes Hospital in Cheadle

When thinking of ideas, we had to take into consideration what effect it would have on the audience; e.g. for the location we ensured that we chose places that were conventional to a psychological horror such as abandoned places which have an eerie atmosphere to make the audience feel on edge as this is what I found out was conventional when researching. We also considered a mental institution as when I completed my audience research, some members said they associate mentally disabled people with psychological films, therefore to meet audience expectations and follow conventions, we considered this idea. We also noted down camera shot ideas so we didn't forget, as particular camera shots such as an establishing shot can show the creepy settings and a point of view shot can make the audience feel nervous for the characters as a point of view shot is usually of the victim to put the audience in their shoes to add to the horror.
